Since the launch of the Haritha Karma Sena activities in Vazhakkad Grama Panchayat, revolutionary changes have taken place in waste management. Earlier, non-biodegradable waste was carelessly dumped along roadsides, in vacant areas, and in coconut groves across the locality. However, after strengthening the activities of the Haritha Karma Sena, waste is now systematically segregated and collected from each ward every month according to a scheduled calendar, and then further sorted and scientifically disposed of.
Haritha Karma Sena, a Kudumbashree initiative, functions under the supervision of the Local Self-Government Institution.
